The Marion Blackberry, originally created in Oregon in the 1950's is a favorite for many along the Pacific Coast. This year, the berries will be coming from Duris Farm in Puyallup, McPhail's Berry Farm in Lyden, and Jessie's Berries in Mt. Vernon. This is what we consider a sweet-tart blackberry, where at first you taste the tartness of the traditional blackberry but the flavor that emerges is dark and sweet. Truly a Pacific Northwest miracle, this berry is one to enjoy on toast, in oatmeal, in yogurt, or just by the spoon.
